Welcome to the Paulatuk Aboriginal Head Start Centre website. We are located in the small Beaufort Delta community of Paulatuk in the Northwest Territories, Canada.

Our center first opened its doors in 1997. The program is administered by the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, an Inuvialuit corporation located in Inuvik.

Our Aboriginal Head Start program provides an opportunity for seven (7) children to participate in a half-day preschool program. We employ five staff members to deliver and administer the Aboriginal Head Start program: Mary Green, Caretaker; Anny Illasiak, Culture/Language Instructor; Molly Ruben, Program Support Worker, Irene Ruben, Coordinator and Joanne Green, Parents & Tots, Parents Day out Coordinator.

The languages spoken at our center are Inuvialuktun and English.

The center offers the children an enriching cultural learning environment where they learn a variety of skills and knowledge associated with the Inuvialuit culture. They are exposed to traditional activities such as: setting traps, making drymeat and dry fish, traditional songs. They enjoy skidoo and sled rides, trips to our mini-culture camp in August and September, string games and tent like activities.
